Description

Create a fabulous doll shop for a 8" fashion doll proprietor. Finished size of shop is 26" long by 15-1/2"high by 14"deep. Project includes complete building plans and instructions for creating the over 90 cardstock reproduction toys plus wallpaper and graphics. Fill shop with your antique dolls or reproductions as either work well. My example includes both. I also worked with chalk paint to create an antique effect on the swinging windowed doors and counter. Instructions for this technique also included.

For our major project for 2014, Ken and I took on the designing of a late 1800's Etrenne Doll Shop room.
It was inspired by the many shops created featuring hats, foods, toys, kitchens, and dollhouse rooms. Our shop is 26" long by 15-1/2" high by 14" deep. It features a multi shelf unit along the back wall and three individual shelves on the two side walls. There are two sections on hinges with windows that accent the front opening into the shop that also features three stairs. When open, these enlarge the display space. The most fun about this project is collecting or making the dolls to display within. It took me over two years to collect the 22 antique dolls I'm displaying and several months to make my other 22 reproduction dolls. Because the project includes many more paper items to make than what's shown, it's easy to fill the shelves while you acquire little dolls to feature. Small dolls are so popular and take up so little room comparatively, it's nice to have one place to display them all together and this doll shop fills the bill very nicely. Over 90 paper dolls and toys to make with our included cardstock designs taken from our antique paper collection of toys and playthings. These include 33 product boxes to fold, 12 box lid graphics for your boxes, 5 Pantene movable paper dolls, 13 doll Valentines, 5 Tuck rocking toys featuring dolls, 5 Lyon coffee 3-D trade cards for you to fold, 4 paper dolls, 6 doll books, 2 doll trunks, 6 paper doll packages, and 2 toy sewing machine box covers.
Complete technique with lots of photos of chalk painting to finish the walls of the shop. This technique makes the shop look old which is the whole idea in our concept as this is an antique reproduction. I have used Annie Sloan chalk paint and Meltonian shoe cream to complete the process although any chalk paint and soft wax could work.
